What to Expect at Service
Dress
Dress is casual — come as you are. There are no expectations, no pressure, and no judgment. After worship, we gather in the fellowship hall for coffee and refreshments. Everyone is welcome to stay and get to know us.
Music and Worship
Music at St. John's is traditional in style but relaxed in spirit. We alternate between organ and piano each week, with occasional special instrumentation. Lyrics are always projected during worship so you can follow along — no hymnal required, though we do use "Glory to God." We also have a full choir, a bell choir, and a children's choir.
Children and Families
Kids are welcome — and we mean that! Pastor Pat gives a children's message during worship, and all children are invited to come forward. Parents are always welcome to accompany them.
Nursery: Fully staffed for young children. You're welcome to bring them before or during the service.
Sunday School (K–5th grade): Classes meet during worship beginning at 10:00 a.m. Following the children's message, kids follow their teachers to Sunday School.
Worship Bags: Available at the back of the sanctuary — coloring pages, crayons, and Bible stories to keep little ones engaged.
Safe Sanctuary: All staff and volunteers who work with children and youth have completed extensive background checks and are trained under our Safe Sanctuary policy.
Communion (The Lord’s Supper)
We celebrate The Lord's Supper on the first Sunday of each month. St. John's practices an open table — no one who is hungry or thirsty for Christ is turned away. There is no age restriction on communion. We serve both juice and wine.
The Lords Prayer
St. John's uses the Lord's Prayer during worship. We use the words "sins" and "sins against us." If you use a different version, don't worry — the words are always printed or projected. No one is expected to have it memorized.
The Offering
Each service includes a time for an offering — a chance to give back a portion of what God has given us. If you're visiting for the first time, please consider that service on the house. Any gift of any size is appreciated, but there is never any pressure to give.
Fellowship
After every service, there's always some form of fellowship time in our spacious fellowship hall. Help yourself to coffee and refreshments and get to know a few people. This is one of our favorite parts of Sunday.
