WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN VISITING

Your faith walk isn't a destination — it's a journey. At St. John's, there are opportunities to grow at every stage of life, from youth programs for children and teens, to adult Bible study, small groups, and ministries that deepen both your faith and your friendships.

Absolutely! We consider ourselves a very family friendly church. We have a fully staffed nursery for infants and toddlers, Sunday School for children in kindergarten through 5th grade, and a youth program for middle and high school students. Pastor Pat gives a children's message during every Sunday service, and all children are invited to come forward. Worship bags with crayons and Bible stories are available in the sanctuary for little ones who stay for the service.

Come as you are… seriously. Our congregation is casual and relaxed. You'll see people in jeans, business attire, and everything in between. There's no dress code and no expectation. What matters is that you're here. If you’re wanting to learn more about what you can expect as a visitor, click here.
-
Not at all. You are welcome at every service, every event, and every ministry activity whether you've been coming for 30 years or this is your very first Sunday. The only thing membership adds is a formal covenant relationship with the congregation, and there's no pressure to take that step until you're ready, if ever.
-
You can give online anytime through our secure giving platform, by dropping an offering in the plate on Sunday, or by mailing a check to our office. Your generosity supports Sunday worship and pastoral care, internal ministries like our children's and youth programs, and local + global outreach missions. First-time visitors are always our guests - there is never any pressure to give.

The United Church of Christ is a mainline Protestant denomination with roots in the Reformed tradition, the same family of faith as Presbyterians and the Reformed Church in America. The UCC holds to the authority of Scripture, the sovereignty of God, and salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. As a UCC congregation, St. John's is congregational in its governance, meaning our members make our own decisions together. We take the Bible seriously, welcome honest questions, and believe God's love extends to everyone. Read more about our history here.

Yes. We livestream Sunday worship on our Facebook page every week at 10:00 a.m., and past sermons are available on our YouTube channel. The most recent videos you can find on our “watch” page. Pastor Pat also posts a short Thursday Thoughts video every week, a brief reflection you can watch in just a few minutes. Whether you're unable to attend in person or just want to get a feel for who we are before visiting, you're welcome to watch from wherever you are.

There are lots of ways to participate, and we'd love to help you find the right fit.
Get involved in one of our upcoming events or groups! Adults can join our Tuesday morning Bible study at The Scrambled Egg, sing with the Singers for the Savior choir, ring with the Handbell Choir, or connect through groups like the Prayer Shawl Group, the Movie and Dinner Group, our Dartball League and more.
Our internal ministry teams are always looking for people who want to roll up their sleeves and help the congregation run well day to day.
If serving beyond our walls is what pulls at your heart, our missions and outreach ministry offer meaningful ways to make a difference. St. John's partners with FISH of St. Charles to support neighbors facing food insecurity, contributes to the Festival of Sharing to address hunger and poverty across Missouri, and supports global mission work through Global Ministries and Nurses for Newborns, etc. There's always a project, a collection, or a hands-on opportunity to be part of something bigger than ourselves.
And if you're just getting started and not sure where you fit, Pastor Pat hosts informal gatherings throughout the year specifically for newer faces, a low-key way to ask questions, meet people, and figure out where you belong. Just reach out and we'll point you in the right direction.
-
Yes… and we mean that without reservation. Many people in our congregation came to St. John's after a long time away from church, or after wrestling with doubt, loss, or significant life change. Pastor Pat has walked his own winding road of faith across multiple denominations, and this congregation reflects that spirit of openness. You don't need to have it all figured out. You just need to show up.
