New to St John's ?  Welcome!

New Faces Gatherings On September 14th and 21st!
Pastor Pat will be hosting a gathering for all non-members and new (or newish) faces at St John's following worship Sunday Sept. 14th and 21st.
Please come if you have any questions about the church, the denomination, Pastor Pat or if you just want to meet new people like yourself!

Where to start?

Times
The worship hour begins at 10:00 a.m. and typically lasts one hour. There is always some form of Fellowship Time following worship. Help yourself to some coffee and refreshments in our spacious fellowship hall!

Music
The music during worship is typically more traditional, but definitely “informal.” We use organ and piano equally each week with occasional special instrumentation. We also have a full choir, a bell choir and a children’s choir and other occasional special music. We choose songs from a hymnal called “Glory to God.” Lyrics are also projected during worship.

Children in Worship
All staff and volunteers who work with youth and children have been fully background checked and have been trained in our “Safe Sanctuary” policy.
Pastor Pat gives a children’s message during worship in which they are welcome to come forward. Parents are welcome to accompany kids for the Children’s Message if they are nervous.
Sunday School classes for children K-5th Grades are held during worship around 10:15am. Following the children’s message, children may follow their teachers to Sunday School.
There is a fully staffed nursery available for young children. You may accompany your children to the nursery before or during the service.
There are “worship bags” available for children to use during the service that have coloring pages, crayons and Biblical stories within them.

The Lord’s Supper
We celebrate the sacrament of The Lord’s Supper (same as Communion) on the first Sunday of the month. St. John’s practices an Open Table. We will not turn away anyone who is hungry or thirsty for Christ. We also do not put an age restriction on The Lord’s Supper, so if you are comfortable with your child taking communion, we trust your judgement. We serve juice as well as wine for your preference.

The Lord’s Prayer
St. John’s regularly uses the Lord’s Prayer during worship. We use the words “sins” and “sins against us” instead of “trespass” and “trespass against us.” Don’t feel bad if you use a different version. If you don’t have the Lord’s Prayer memorized, don’t worry. We will have the words in print or projected for your convenience.

Offering
Each service includes the opportunity for an offering – a time when we can give back to the Lord just a small portion of the gifts we have received. Offerings support the various ministries of our church. While many of our members and regular attendees give as much as they can, please know that any gift of any size would be most welcomed. However, please do not feel obligated to give. If you are visiting us for the first time, please consider that service “on the house.”
